This October, the West Goshen Park and Recreation Department introduced Pickleball to Robert Lambert Park (1145 Pottstown Pike).
“We received numerous requests for Pickleball from West Goshen residents,” said Park and Recreation Director Ken Lehr about the popular paddle sport. “We didn’t have any facility that we could dedicate exclusively to Pickleball, but thanks to help from the Park and Recreation Board, the Board of Supervisors, and former Park and Rec Board member and Pickleball aficionado Dan Dixon, we researched Pickleball facilities in other Chester County municipalities and were able to have lines painted on the tennis courts at Robert Lambert Park.”
The lines delineating Pickleball at Lambert Park are painted in yellow. Because Pickleball courts are smaller, lines have been painted for four courts. Tennis players may still use the two courts utilizing the existing white lines. West Goshen Township also has four courts dedicated just for tennis at West Goshen Community Park.
The courts at Lambert Park may not be reserved but are on a first-come first-served basis. All court users are reminded to follow standard tennis etiquette and limit play to one hour if someone is waiting for a court.
Pickleball players may use their own nets, paddles, and balls or use portable Pickleball equipment owned by the West Goshen Township Park and Recreation Department. For information about using Pickleball equipment, contact Park and Recreation Director Ken Lehr at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 610-696-5266, ext. 4104.
