To our West Goshen residents and business owners,
Cooler days are upon us, and the hustle and bustle of the autumn season are already here. While the events of the past few weeks are still fresh in our minds, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend the men and women of the West Goshen Township Police Department for their role and assistance in the capture of Danelo Cavalcante, the prisoner who escaped from the Chester County Prison on August 31st. During what seemed like an endless heat wave, our officers provided aid where it was needed, and did so with the integrity and professionalism they continually exhibit. Thank you for your service and dedication.
It is also with great excitement that we announce the promotion of Sergeant Matthew Grandizio to the rank of Lieutenant with the West Goshen Police Department. Lieutenant, thank you for the many years of service you have provided and congratulations on your new appointment!
Our Board continues to meet twice per month, and we encourage your attendance. The state of the Township is well. Our most recent project on Bolmar St. has concluded, and we thank you for your patience during construction.
We have many upcoming projects, including plans to install solar panels on our D Building at the municipal complex. This will allow West Goshen Township to not only reduce its carbon footprint, but also to participate in net metering, thereby reducing the cost of our electricity. Additionally, we are well on our way to converting our entire municipal fleet to all-electric. This process began with our purchasing of two all-electric police vehicles, and will continue with the installation of EV conduits and additional charging stations at the municipal complex. Our Board acknowledges the values and needs of our residents and businesses, and we recognize the direction in which transportation and automobiles are heading. We strive to adapt to the world of tomorrow by making sustainable decisions today.
Over the next few months, our Board and staff will be working together to assemble the final budget for 2024. In doing so, we will be allocating funds for the various essential services provided to the township, as well as planning ahead for major infrastructure projects. These budget discussions will all be held in public meetings, and those interested in participating are encouraged to attend.
It has been a pleasure serving West Goshen Township for the last three years, and I am excited for the next three.
Wishing you health and happiness this season,
Ashley
