Locksley Road Stormwater Project
Each month, we discuss the various stormwater projects that the Township is undertaking. This month, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight the work of the Public Works Department in addressing a major repair on Locksley Road. Undertaking this project was the result of an investigation of a sinkhole that was developing on Locksley Road. Upon investigation by the Street’s Department, it was determined that the piping was failing and needed to be replaced. At their meeting on April 5, 2022, the Board of Supervisors discussed this project and approved emergency repair work for the roadway. This project involved the replacement of 160 ft. of corrugated metal pipe and 160 ft. of curbing. Work began on April 20, 2022 and the members of the Streets Department worked diligently to complete this project. The pictures above outline the progress, including the sinkhole that initiated the work, the pipe that was removed, the construction, and the restoration. Due to the quick action of the Streets Department, the Township was able to identify this issue and make the necessary repairs in an expeditious manner.
Thank you to members of the Streets Department for their work in addressing this situation and for everything all the members of the Public Works Department do for the Township. We would also like to thank the residents in the project area for their cooperation and understanding as we worked to complete this project.
Stormwater Projects
Construction on the Pine Valley Circle stormwater project is nearly complete. The replacement pipe has been installed and the lining has been completely installed and grouted. Basin work will be completed this spring, along with the final paving and lawn restorations. The contractor will also complete the basin improvements on Pine Valley Circle at the cul-de-sac at this time. We will then begin working on punch list items for the project. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we have worked to complete this project.
In addition to this project, engineering work is continuing on the other stormwater projects in the Township. This includes the pipe culvert replacement on Bolmar Street, the pipe culvert lining on Legion Drive, and the Glen Avenue/Sylvan Road pipe replacement project. These projects are slated for 2022 and are being funded through the funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The project on Legion Drive is anticipated to be completed this summer, while the Glen Avenue/Sylvan Road work is expected to go out to bid in late June or early July.
