Dear West Goshen residents,
On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I want to wish each and every one of you a happy and healthy holiday season. This year brought many positive changes to our Township. In-person meetings resumed at the Township building, and it has been a pleasure to see our residents face-to-face once again. Our Board and staff worked diligently to deliver online bill pay for sewer and refuse bills. We received approximately $1.2 million dollars of federal aid from the American Rescue Plan Act, all of which has been allocated toward much-needed stormwater projects. Our Board, along with the Sustainability Advisory Committee, passed a ban on single-use plastic bags and straws in West Goshen Township. We successfully adopted a University Campus/Township overlay district in partnership with West Chester University that will benefit Township residents and University students alike. Our Township installed two electric vehicle charging stations, and worked with developers to install additional stations in existing residential developments. Our Board met with the Chester County Department of Emergency Services to conduct a tabletop exercise in emergency response, and we drafted and adopted a crucial Emergency Response Plan that will keep residents notified and informed during emergencies. And though there are issues that still need our attention, our collective goal continues to be providing excellent service to you while keeping taxes low, and to demonstrate fiscal responsibility in all areas of the Township budget.
This year has also been trying for our community as we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we close on another year, we remember our family, friends, neighbors, and first responders that we have lost to this disease. As cases of the Omicron variant, among others, spread, I urge you to remain vigilant and to protect yourselves and those around you by getting vaccinated. We honor those we have lost by preventing further spread of this virus.
West Goshen is moving forward and the future is bright. Our community has demonstrated an unwavering resilience over the past few years, and it has been an honor to serve you. As we look forward to 2022, we welcome new faces to the Township and encourage you to serve on one of our many committees. As always, we love to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out at any time and we will do our very best to address any issues or concerns you may have.
Sending our best wishes to you and yours, stay safe and well, and see you next year.
Vice-Chair, Board of Supervisors
