The West Goshen Park and Recreation Department is currently seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to plan, facilitate and supervise safe and enjoyable outdoor activities for participants of West Goshen’s Summer Recreation Program and Afternoon Sports Clinics. Being a summer counselor is a rewarding part-time position which is ideal for high school and college students or anyone seeking hands-on experience working with children outdoors. Counselors are assigned to one of four park locations in West Goshen Township for the duration of the eight-week programs working weekday mornings between June 19th and August 11th. The Park and Recreation Department is currently accepting aplications for the various counselor positions described below.
Summer Recreation Program: Summer Counselor (Age 18 +)
Summer counselors are required to plan, lead and actively supervise a variety of age appropriate recreational activities such as sports, games, crafts, special events and field trips for children between the ages of five and twelve. Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision and well being of the participants while communicating and enforcing program rules and expectations outdoors in a team environment. In addition to working weekday mornings, summer counselors are assigned to one Afternoon Sports Clinic per week instructing activities such as tennis, soccer, tee-ball and skateboarding. Summer counselor applicants are required to be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma by June 19, 2017.
Summer Recreation Program: Junior Counselor (Ages 16 & 17)
The Park and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for the position of junior counselor working with children between the ages of five and twelve participating in our Summer Recreation Program. The junior counselor position provides support to the summer counselors while gaining introductory experience working with children in a recreational group setting. Junior counselors are required to perform physical actively outdoors such as activity set-up / clean-up in addition to a variety of daily responsibilities as directed by the summer counselors / program directors. Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 19, 2017, be willing and able to work maturely in a group environment and to submit a completed application.
