West Goshen Township Park and Recreation Board Meeting March 17, 2010
Attendance: Bob Cifone, Jerry Napiecek, Nancy Pine, Ed Smith, Mike Pillagalli, Megan Zug, and

Township Representatives: Kent Wise, Ken Lehr, and Tom Steines
Meeting called to Order: 7:10 PM by Chair Nancy Pine
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Minutes from the February 17, 2010 meeting were reviewed and a motion was made to approve as written
by Bob Cifone and seconded by Ken Lehr. Motion was passed.
Treasurer's statement was reviewed and no questions were generated.
Parks Department: Kent wise indicated that trash barrels are being collected for cleaning
and painting, picnic tables have been worked on and are ready for park placement, two replacement park benches are being built, and that parks grounds are being cleaned up of branches and winter
debris. He said that three of the four ball fields will be ready for opening on March 18th. Rest rooms have been cleaned and opened on March 17th. Three or four
toilets need to be replaced. Kent Wise said there are no reports of any vandalism.
Summer Recreation Program: Tom Steines said that counselor interviews are being
conducted. The Summer Recreation Program and Summer Teen Program will employ 26 counselors (18 and older) and 14 junior counselors (16 or 17 years old). Tom has received nineteen applications
for eleven open positions. The Summer Recreation Program will begin on June 21st. Registration will be at the West Goshen Township Administration Building on May 8th between 8:00 and 11:00 AM, and May 15th between 9:00 and 11:00 AM.
Friends of West Goshen Parks: Ken Lehr said there is currently a vacancy for the Park and
Recreation representative on the Board of Directors of Friends of West Goshen Parks.
Old Business
Bus Trips: The Flower Show Bus Trip seemed to be a success. The Washington, DC trip
on April 11th has filled. Enough people are on the waiting list to consider an additional bus. The May 20-24 Cape Cod trip has one space left. So far, half the registrants are from West Goshen with the other half registering through East Goshen and West Chester. The June 19th New York City On Your Own trip still has space available.
A trip to Yankee Stadium and a September trip to see the Phillies play the Mets at Citi Field are
being planned.
Fitness Programs: Winter Yoga / Pilates ends on March 18th. Spring program begins on
March 25th. There were no registrations for March Water Walking. Adventure Boot Camp for Women starts theweek of March 22nd.
Summer Concerts: David Jack will perform the Children's Concert on June 13th. Other
concerts are: Barbone Street Jazz Band on June 27th; Special Blends on July 11th; Blackthorn on July 25th; the Mainliners on August 8th; and Jimmy Jorge and the Latin Express on August 22nd.
Egg Hunt / Decorated Hat Parade: The Egg Hunt and Decorated Hat Parade will take place on
Saturday, March 27th at 10:30 AM in Community Park. Rain date is Saturday, April 3rd. Jerry Napiecek will not be available for bunny duty on March 27th. Mary Lou
Enoches said she could serve as the bunny if needed.
New Business: The West Goshen Board of Supervisors is proposing a walk of the Jerrihian
Property on May 8 for Planning Commission and Park Board. Lunch will be served for Commission and Board members.
The skatepark at Robert Lambert Park is open 4:00 PM until sunset during the week, 10:00 AM until
sunset on Saturdays and Sundays, and 11:00 AM until sunset on school holidays.
Motion to adjourn was made by Jerry Napiecek and seconded by Mary Lou Enoches at 7:50 PM.
