Police Department

To the residents of West Goshen Township:

Thank you for your interest in The West Goshen Police Department. I am happy to report that in my first week as newly appointed chief of police, I received four letters from township residents thanking the police department for 'going above and beyond'.  I am proud to say that West Goshen officers have, for years, had the reputation of doing just that, going above and beyond. That is what we pride ourselves on and that is what we will continue to do.

West Goshen Police Department is a full-service police agency that handles approximately 22,000 calls a year for service. The agency consists of 29 sworn officers, two of which we are proud to say, have served our country in the United States Marine Corp. Our Patrol Division consists of 4 platoons of officers that are on patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   We have a Traffic Division that is responsible for the investigation of all serious traffic accidents, in addition to coordination of traffic and engineering studies

to determine the proper regulations of local traffic issues. They also coordinate a team of officers throughout the county to assist agencies in the investigations of serious accidents that smaller agencies do not have the resources to investigate.  We have a Criminal Investigations Division that handles all criminal investigations and works closely with surrounding agencies and the District Attorney's office. We have an officer assigned to handle matters involving our Juveniles and Community relations. This officer is in the schools every day of the school year. Most officers within the agency are also members of the Municipal Drug Task Force. In addition to the sworn personnel, we have 4 civilian employees that provide police dispatch services Monday through Friday from 7am to 11pm, and handle all clerical matters for the agency.

West Goshen Police Department is also an integral member of the West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team that is comprised of officers from 7 municipalities that are specially trained to handle critical incidents within those municipalities.

We live in a world where public safety agencies have to rely heavily on the assistance from the public to be our "eyes and ears". We vow to work with and for our residents to provide a safe community. Our resident's deserve nothing less. We subscribe to the principle that services will be delivered in a manner which preserves and upholds democratic values within our community. We are committed to maintaining the highest level of quality service, integrity and professionalism in everything we do.

I invite you to stop in to our facility to meet our officers and discuss issues that are pertinent to you.

Thank you again for your interest in your community and the West Goshen Police Department.

Sincerely,

Joseph J. Gleason
Chief of Police

The motor vehicle has to display a handicapped registration plate on the rear of the vehicle or a placard from the rear view mirror, or if not the mirror, somewhere visible on the dash.

How do you get a Handicapped Placard?
Contact the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or a notary requesting an application for a placard.  After it is received, your family doctor fills it out and it is returned to the Department of Transportation in Harrisburg.  If you qualify, the placard is then issued by the Department of Transportation.  The completed application can also be processed by a notary.
